Today we celebrate International Earth Day!

We are incredibly proud to see Earth Day still being recognised more than 50 years after it was first celebrated. We are also pleased to see it become a global day to acknowledge the push required to protect our planet.

Sustainability is an integral part of the Edgars business model and plays a key role in the work we do now and how to plan to continue on this journey.

We see it as a reminder that our work and impact need to better support our planet. From working to support zero-carbon emissions to implementing everyday changes within our office, when it comes to saving our planet, we can do lots of things to help.

Part of the work we have done and been a part of most recently has included our Director Jayne Norris chairing an event alongside Oxfordshire Local Enterprise Partnership (OxLEP) Clean Growth Group which discussed key issues on ‘Making the future the present: delivering zero-carbon homes in Oxfordshire’.
We have also been part of the initiative for writing policy documents to support zero-carbon development, with the key theme of minimising carbon emissions from new buildings to support the achievement of national and local carbon reduction targets. This seeks to ensure new development does not add to the carbon deficit and ensure that the significant cost of retrofitting buildings to achieve net-zero carbon does not increase.

It may be a continuous journey of change but Edgars will continue to work towards a more conscious and sustainable future to which we are fully committed.
