She has worked across England in a range of settings—including as an Inspector of Historic Buildings and Areas for Historic England, within the consultancy team at the National Trust, and for several local authorities—developing a broad skill set that spans all scales of development. Her experience covers sectors such as education, housing, infrastructure, private estates, retail, ecclesiastical, and leisure. She has extensive expertise in researching and understanding heritage sites and assessing impacts to help manage change sensitively. Her project work includes schemes at Blenheim Palace, a wide selection of Oxford colleges and University of Oxford projects, as well as private estates and hotel and leisure facilities.
Her ability to understand the significance of the historic environment and succinctly identify crucial heritage considerations makes her a highly valuable member of the consultancy team. Rachel is driven by building strong relationships and working collaboratively with stakeholders to find solutions in complex development contexts.
She also has experience in conservation management planning and heritage management planning, and within the grant-funding sector, developing and project managing bid proposals for National Lottery Heritage Fund projects.
Rachel is a committee member of the Oxford Diocesan Advisory Committee (DAC) and is MRTPI.
