What you’ll be doing
- Carrying out accurate research on planning constraints, planning history, and planning policy.
- Drafting and submitting straightforward pre-applications, planning applications, prior notification applications, discharge of conditions applications and local plan submissions.
- Providing a courteous service to clients and partners.
- Project lead for small projects and project assist for larger projects.
- Providing accurate notes at committees, hearings, public inquiries, and community consultations.
- Preparing draft fee quotes for straightforward projects and enquiries
- Preparing draft briefings, obtaining fee quotes and necessary supporting information on behalf of clients
- Keeping abreast of legislation changes
- Providing updates on current planning matters at team meetings
About you
- Planning (or relevant field) degree or successful completion of 2-3 years on apprenticeship
course (level 4) - Eligibility for membership of the MRTPI apprenticeship (level 7)
- UK driving licence
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Understanding of local authority systems and structures
- Excellent IT systems knowledge – for example Microsoft Office, Publisher and Indesign
- Logical thinker – ability to identify problems, provide solutions and use initiative
- Ability to work independently and in a team
- Sound understanding of planning system development- permitted development, decision-making process, basic enforcement and sustainability
- Basic understanding of design and architectural terminology
