Radley College applied to build a new, unique, prestigious and modern structure to house a rowing centre that straddles the permitted developable boundary of the college property on the edge of the Oxford Green Belt.
An initial approach to the Council, to pursue the proposal was met with objection. But Edgars took the time to scrutinise the project rationale and used changes in government policy and interpretation of planning law to add leverage to the submitted application.
Our commitment to the understanding of our client’s projects meant that we identified the very special circumstances that enabled us to eventually achieve a successful application.
The Rowing Centre was designed to include a rowing tank for ‘wet’ training, one of only a few in the UK, and includes performance monitoring technology to challenge and monitor the region’s top rowing athletes.
Understanding this very special situation, properly presented and applied to the application, meant that Edgars achieved success despite a very challenging plannng circumstances.
