Amy Powell shortlisted for ‘NextGen’ OxPropFest Awards

Amy Powell - Shortlisted
03rd July 2023

We’re delighted that our very own Principal Planner, Amy Powell, has been shortlisted for ‘NextGen’ for the OxPropFest Awards 2023.

This award recognises individuals under 35, who have shown leadership and are an inspiration to others around them.

Amy Powell graduated in 2011 with a bachelor’s degree in Geography from Southampton University. At the time, there were local authority financial constraints, and the banking crisis was depressing consultancy opportunities. Her aspirations of a planning career were put on hold, but she made a successful start to working life managing a lettings office.

In 2019, Amy took the bold decision to change career direction and pursue a town planning career. She resigned from her job and registered to start a Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI) apprenticeship degree.

During her first interview with us, her passion for planning and the impact it can have to enhance everyday life and the built environment, together with a commitment to clean growth, were very compelling qualities. Her bravery in forging a new career was a testament to her commitment to the profession.

Last year, Amy completed her apprenticeship and gained a distinction in her master’s degree in Chartered Town Planning at London South Bank University. Following this, she was elected as a Chartered Member of the Royal Town Planning Institute. Amy was one of the first RTPI apprentices to become a chartered planner through this route.

Congratulations to all of those who have been shortlisted. We’re looking forward to the awards ceremony, which will take place on 12th September 2023 at Keble College, Oxford.
