Bicester Heritage, a specialist historic motoring and aviation company, is now the occupant of former RAF Bicester Airfield.
The application for a large scale 380-bedroom development in a historically and ecologically sensitive area with various levels of protection including a Conservation Area, Listed Buildings, Scheduled Monuments and ecological designations, meant the development proposal required the correct historical and environmental context.
Edgars were responsible for coordinating the production of the necessary additional information required to overcome the initial objections and concerns raised by a number of statutory consultees, as to ensure officers were confident that the proposal for the site would be appropriate in the context of the site constraints.
With the help of Edgars and in accordance with the requirements of the NPPF, it was demonstrated that the development would deliver substantial public benefit and long-term future for the site, as received positive recommendation from officers and members at committee in October 2018.
